following her husband’s demise.A widow has shared advice for unmarried women while recounting the challenges she faced from her in-laws after her husband’s death.
She explained that her husband’s demise left her solely responsible for their three sons and an adopted daughter. However, her in-laws made life increasingly difficult for her and her children.
In her account, she stated that she was denied access to their home and claimed that her in-laws even attempted to harm her and her children.
Her detailed account reads:
“It was never my wish to become a widow at this stage, leaving behind three young boys and our adopted daughter for me to care for alone. God, however, called my beloved husband home, away from pain and sickness.
Yet, I, Uba Princess Chidinma Ugoji, cannot stand by and allow my late husband’s brothers to take away what my husband and I worked hard to build.
Since last week, I’ve been barred from entering the home I share with my children. My husband’s brothers brought men to my house, apparently intending to harm me and my children. Thankfully, we weren’t home at the time. Instead, they attacked my staff and younger sister, stole important documents, and threw my sister out of the house nearly unclothed.
They also warned me not to return to my home unless I wanted my family to come for my corpse. To make matters worse, they changed the locks, leaving me and my children stranded outside.
With the help of the Nigerian police, we were able to apprehend one of them. He was forced to unlock the house, allowing me and my children to regain access.
I never imagined that this is the kind of suffering young widows face at the hands of some people in Mbano.
Death, you have dealt me a cruel blow!”
