A shocking letter from a landlord to tenants has gone viral on social media, sparking widespread outrage. The landlord, through his lawyer, announced a staggering rent increase from N750,000 to N1.4 million per annum for a one-bedroom apartment in Ajah, Lagos.
The letter, shared by a tenant with the handle “BigAra,” informed residents that the new rent would take effect from their next rent renewal in December 2025. The notice also warned that failure to pay the increased rent would result in eviction.
The rent hike has sparked anger and frustration among tenants, who are struggling to cope with the already high cost of living in Lagos.
