A female student of the University of Jos (UNIJOS) has shared a video that bears a striking resemblance to the recent controversy at Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK). The UNIZIK incident involved a female student physically assaulting a lecturer for interrupting her dance video.
In the UNIJOS video, the female student, identified as Nanmakplang R., is seen recording a video when a male lecturer walks in and orders her to stop. Unlike the UNIZIK incident, however, the UNIJOS student promptly complies with the lecturer’s request.
The video has sparked a range of reactions on social media, with some users praising the UNIJOS student for her respectful behavior. Oga Na Master commented, “Dem raise this one well na. But it’s like lecturers of nowadays are becoming so friendly.”
Others, like Diala Sunday, noted the difference in behavior between the UNIJOS student and the UNIZIK student, saying, “When u see people with sweet soul u would definitely know, can u see how she just smiled over it, even though this man wasn’t as polite as the unizik lecturer.”
The incident has also sparked a broader conversation about the behavior of students and lecturers in Nigerian universities.
David Sunday stated, “They no born her well make she respond. U see that she pick her phone shapely. In Nigeria for now… Northern has more morals than other regions in words, in dressing even in attitude.”
Musty Bello added, “She has good character. Charity begins at home.” However, not all comments were positive, with Jericho Move asserting, “Most Igbo girls no get single respect normally. Let’s be real about this.”
