Controversial Nigerian street-hop singer Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, popularly known as Portable, has broken his silence following claims that he has been blacklisted by influential figures in the Nigerian music industry.
The drama began after influencer Tunde Perry alleged that a private meeting was held by top music executives where a decision was reportedly made to sideline the “Zazu” crooner due to his controversial conduct.
Allegations of Blacklisting in the Music Industry
According to Perry, Portable’s repeated clashes and outspoken nature have strained his relationships with key industry stakeholders.
He further claimed that the singer’s behavior has not only affected his own career but has also made established artists more cautious about supporting or mentoring emerging talents.
Perry specifically mentioned veteran rapper and YBNL boss Olamide, suggesting that the music mogul has become more careful about grooming new acts after his experience with Portable.
Recall that Olamide played a major role in amplifying Portable’s breakout hit, Zazu, which brought the street artist into the mainstream spotlight.
Portable Fires Back
In response, Portable took to social media in a video message where he addressed the allegations head-on. The singer did not hold back as he called out Tunde Perry, Olamide, and the unnamed executives allegedly involved in the supposed blacklisting.
Portable insisted that he does not rely on any industry executive to succeed. According to him, his loyal fan base is more than enough to sustain his music career.
“I am bigger than them,” he declared confidently. “Who are those that want to blacklist me? Are they my fans or my God? Are they the ones feeding me?”
The singer also stated that anyone who truly wants to help an artist would do so without using their support as leverage later.
He emphasized that several individuals have supported him in the past without demanding anything in return or attempting to control his career.
Portable further warned that he would not tolerate being intimidated or sidelined. Addressing Olamide directly, he urged the rapper to focus on his own path and avoid unnecessary conflict.
“If you mess with me, I will return the energy. Stay in your own lane,” he said.
What This Means for Portable’s Career
Despite the controversy, Portable remains one of Nigeria’s most talked-about street-hop artists. His bold personality and unfiltered statements continue to spark conversations across social media.
Whether the alleged blacklisting is real or not, one thing is clear — Portable believes his fan base and street credibility are strong enough to keep him relevant in the competitive Nigerian music industry.
As the situation unfolds, fans will be watching closely to see if there will be further reactions from Olamide or other industry figures mentioned in the claims.
