Veteran Nollywood actress and filmmaker Omotola Jalade Ekeinde has officially announced her next film project, titled Mother’s Love, which is set to hit screens in March.
The award-winning screen icon revealed the upcoming movie on Wednesday, sharing a promotional video on her social media pages.
The short montage introduced members of the cast while also showing Omotola in dazzling outfits, confidently striking poses and displaying a few stylish dance moves that quickly caught fans’ attention.
Interestingly, the release of the promo video comes just days after Omotola sparked conversations online with her strong views on movie promotion in Nollywood.
During a recent interview, the actress made it clear that she does not believe dancing should be a compulsory requirement for marketing films.
According to her, filmmakers should be judged by the quality of their work rather than their willingness to participate in viral social media trends.
She stressed that once a movie is completed, promotion should be handled through structured and professional platforms, not forced dance challenges.
“I’m sorry, but I won’t be dancing to market or promote my movie. It’s not professional. I’ve done the movie, now I just have to go around and promote it,” Omotola stated.
Her comments aligned with an ongoing debate in the Nigerian film industry, recently fueled by fellow filmmaker Kunle Afolayan.
Afolayan had earlier pointed out that while dance-based promotions may help boost a film’s visibility, they can also put unnecessary pressure on actors and distract audiences from the actual storyline and message of the movie.
With Mother’s Love already generating buzz ahead of its release, fans are eager to see how Omotola balances meaningful storytelling with modern promotional strategies on her own terms.
