My husband divorced me 2hrs after our wedding because I lied to him I don’t have a child and I was a virgin
Hanifa described her journey as a single mother as extremely challenging. With no support, she resorted to selling clothes on the streets to earn a living.
In an interview with Afrimax, she shared her story: “In 2019, I fell in love for the first time, but the relationship ended after two years because I often caught him with other women. After our breakup, I shared my experience with other women who told me that their husbands made similar mistakes.
“I fell in love again, but my new boyfriend was poor and couldn’t support me financially. Because of this, I started another relationship and ended up dating two men simultaneously. This situation became problematic when I got pregnant and couldn’t determine who the father was, leading to another poor decision.
She continued: “I told both men the baby was theirs. The first one denied paternity due to a medical condition that made it unlikely for him to father a child. The second man also denied being the father, leaving me desperate and confused.
“After giving birth, I raised my child without the father’s help. It was very difficult, but we managed to get by. Eventually, I found a job selling clothes, which helped me regain my confidence. Later, I met another man who truly loved me. He was wealthy, and we fell in love. However, I made a mistake by not telling him about my past and my child. I pretended to be single and told him he was the first man I had been romantically involved with. I left my baby at home while I worked and cared for my child in the evenings.
“We fell in love, and eventually, he wanted to sleep with me. I convinced him that I was a virgin and would wait until marriage. He respected my claim and loved me even more. He even asked me to quit my job, promising to provide for me. We developed deep trust, and he never forced me to sleep with him.
“When I introduced him to my parents, I asked them not to reveal the truth about my child. Though my family warned me about being dishonest, I didn’t listen. Both families were happy and supportive, and everything was set for our marriage.
“On our wedding day, we went to a hotel for our honeymoon. Filled with fear, I decided to tell him the truth, believing he would understand and forgive me. I confessed about my child and my past. He became very angry and said he couldn’t trust me. He left the hotel, telling me our marriage was over.”
“I tried to reach out to him, but he refused to listen, calling me a snake and telling me to stop pursuing him.
