Rumours about the death of Nollywood legend Pete Edochie recently spread across social media, causing panic among fans and followers.
The false report, which circulated widely on X (formerly Twitter), claimed that the veteran actor had confirmed his own death on Instagram.
However, the claim has been firmly dismissed by his son, Leo Edochie.
Taking to his Instagram page, Leo addressed the growing speculation and reassured the public that his father is very much alive, healthy, and in high spirits. According to him, the viral post suggesting Pete Edochie’s death was completely fabricated.
Leo revealed that he had been flooded with phone calls, text messages, and WhatsApp chats from concerned friends, colleagues, and fans who had come across the fake news online. He described the report as baseless and malicious.
“I’ve been receiving countless calls and messages about a post claiming that my father, Pete Edochie, is dead. That information is completely false,” he stated.
He further emphasized that the respected actor is not only alive but also hale and hearty. Leo also had strong words for individuals responsible for spreading the misinformation, warning against wishing death on others.
In his message, he made it clear that those spreading such rumours would not succeed, adding that Pete Edochie will continue to live long and remain in good health.
The incident once again highlights the dangers of fake news and the speed at which misinformation can spread on social media platforms.
Fans have since expressed relief and sent well wishes to the Nollywood icon, celebrating the fact that he remains strong and healthy.
Pete Edochie, widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s most respected actors, has enjoyed a long and successful career in the film industry. News about his well-being often draws significant public attention, which may explain how quickly the false report gained traction.
As it stands, there is no truth to the rumours. Pete Edochie is alive, healthy, and continuing to enjoy life, according to his family.
