A Lagos nursery school teacher, Stella Nwadigbo, has been remanded in Kirikiri prison for physically assaulting a 3-year-old boy, Abayomi Michael. The incident occurred during a lesson at Christ Mitots School in Ikorodu, Lagos, and was captured in a viral video.
The Lagos State Police Command arraigned Nwadigbo in Magistrate Court 1, Ogba, on charges of indecent treatment and assault of a child. She pleaded not guilty, and her defense counsel applied for bail, which was set at N200,000 and two verifiable sureties.
Nwadigbo, 45, will remain in Kirikiri Correctional facility until February 18, 2025, when the case comes up for continuation of hearing. The victim, Abayomi Michael, has received medical attention. This incident highlights concerns about child safety and welfare in educational settings .
