presenter Tolulope Balogun Looses coolness stormed off set after emotional rant

The current situation in Nigeria is a topic of intense discussion. Many people are struggling due to various factors, notably the soaring petrol prices. Recently, the NNPC announced an increase in petrol prices in Lagos to N998 per liter, with some stations charging around N1,050.

This issue sparked a heated debate on the Nigerian talk show “Jasiri,” where presenter Tolulope Adeleru-Balogun expressed her frustrations so passionately that she walked off the set. Here’s an excerpt from her remarks:

“I rarely drive, just to work, so a full tank lasts me about a week to a week and a half. Now, every two weeks, I’m looking at paying over 60,000 to 70,000 naira. When my tank hits half, I rush to refuel because I can’t predict what will happen next. Families are now forced to decide which child can go to school. I’ve heard of mothers skipping meals to feed their children. It’s shocking that we’re in a country that produces this natural resource, yet people are suffering.

With NNPC at N998 and prices often hitting N1,050, how can we manage? We’re all stretched thin right now. If I’m feeling this impact, I can only imagine how those with less are coping. What is expected from us? I watched the attendant pumping my gas and thought, ‘I can afford this, but what about others?’ Are we waiting until Nigerians are drinking from gutters or using blood to fuel their cars? We desperately need relief!”
