Davido Says He Asked for Joint Custody, Not Full Custody
Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) page, Davido clarified that he never demanded full custody of his daughter, Imade. According to him, his request was strictly for joint custody.
He stressed that the situation shouldn’t be seen as a win-or-lose battle between him and Sophia. In his words, nobody truly wins in such circumstances — especially not their daughter. He questioned why some people appeared to be celebrating the development, stating that there was nothing to rejoice about.

The award-winning artist expressed concern about how the public narrative was being shaped. He maintained that the real focus should be on the well-being of their child rather than public opinion or online commentary.
Davido emphasized that regardless of how the case unfolds, his daughter will grow up knowing that he made an effort to be present in her life and fought for his rights as a father.

He also expressed disappointment over what he described as insensitive behavior, adding that he would not wish the pain he and his wife endured on anyone.
