Former Big Brother Naija housemate, Pere Egbi, has sparked conversations online after sharing his personal views on young single women living alone, particularly in Nigeria.
Taking to his official X (formerly Twitter) account, the reality TV star advised young women to avoid staying by themselves, stressing the importance of having company at home. According to Pere, living alone as a woman comes with risks that should not be ignored.

He wrote:
“Personal advice to young women living in Nigeria who are single: don’t live alone by yourself. Have someone stay with you always a friend or a family member. It’s never a cool thing to live alone as a woman.”
His statement quickly drew mixed reactions from social media users, with some agreeing and others questioning the reasoning behind his advice.
One follower asked whether his comment was influenced by the recent tragic death of female singer Ifunanya Nwangene, who reportedly passed away after suffering a snake bite in her Abuja residence. Responding to the question, Pere simply replied, “Everything,” suggesting that his advice was based on multiple safety concerns rather than a single incident.
The former housemate went further to clarify that his opinion was not directed at women alone. According to him, living alone is generally unsafe, regardless of gender, especially in an environment where emergencies can occur unexpectedly.
While some critics argued that personal independence should not be discouraged, others supported Pere’s viewpoint, noting that having someone around can be helpful in emergencies, provide emotional support, and improve overall security.
Pere’s comments have once again highlighted ongoing discussions around personal safety, urban living, and the realities many young people face while living alone in Nigeria. As debates continue online, his message has succeeded in drawing attention to the importance of preparedness, community, and shared living arrangements.
