Nigerian content creator and singer Carter Efe has openly expressed his disappointment after Afrobeats superstar Wizkid reportedly gifted ₦20 million to a hypeman known as GOE (God Over Everything).
In 2023, Wizkid made headlines after surprising the hypeman with the generous cash gift. The gesture followed a viral video in which GOE mentioned the award-winning singer. At the time, the unexpected reward sparked massive reactions across social media, with many praising Wizkid for supporting fans and creatives.
However, as the buzz gradually faded, updates about the hypeman became scarce.
Reacting in a now-trending clip, Carter Efe shared his frustration over the situation. According to him, he has been a consistent supporter of Wizkid’s music since the early days of his own career. He claimed that whenever Wizkid drops a new song, he makes it a point to dance to it and promote it across his platforms.
Carter Efe questioned why Wizkid chose to reward someone else despite his long-standing loyalty and public support. He pointed out that he even went as far as releasing a tribute song titled “Machala” in honour of the Grammy-winning star.
The skitmaker suggested that despite his visible dedication and efforts to celebrate Wizkid’s brand, he has never received recognition from the singer.
In his words, he wondered why the ₦20 million gift went to GOE instead of someone like him who has consistently shown love and support.
The clip has since sparked mixed reactions online. While some fans believe Carter Efe has the right to feel disappointed, others argue that gifts are personal decisions and not obligations.
As conversations continue to trend, the situation once again highlights how celebrity gestures can stir debate within Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
