Nigerian skitmaker Isaac Aloma, widely known as Zicsaloma, has opened up about how family expectations delayed his journey to financial independence.
The content creator shared his thoughts during a recent video where he spoke candidly about money, boundaries, and personal growth.
According to Zicsaloma, many of his early business ventures failed not because of lack of effort or ideas, but due to pressure from family members who felt entitled to his earnings.
He explained that while growing up, he tried his hands at several businesses, but constant financial demands made it difficult to save or reinvest for the future.
The skitmaker stressed that achieving financial freedom requires strict financial discipline and boundaries, even when dealing with close friends and family.
He noted that in many African homes, once someone starts earning, relatives often feel they have automatic access to that income, regardless of the person’s long-term plans.
Zicsaloma advised that being “financially heartless” at certain stages of life is sometimes necessary.
While this may attract criticism or resentment, he believes it is essential for breaking unhealthy financial cycles and building a stable future.
According to him, prioritising personal financial goals is not selfish, but a crucial step toward long-term success and independence.
