Yoruba Nollywood industry has been thrown into deep mourning following the death of popular actress Aunty Ajara, a loss that has left colleagues, fans, and loved ones heartbroken.
The sad development comes shortly after actress Wumi Toriola publicly appealed for financial assistance for Ajara’s treatment. As earlier reported, Toriola had revealed that her goddaughter’s health condition had worsened despite all efforts and medical interventions.
Sadly, the fight ended in loss, as Aunty Ajara did not recover from the illness.
The heartbreaking news of her death was confirmed by her colleague, Tobi Oladdele Teemony, who shared the announcement via his Instagram page. According to him, the actress passed away overnight after enduring a long and courageous battle with illness.
In his emotional post, Teemony acknowledged the overwhelming support Ajara received during her final days. He revealed that she was surrounded by love, prayers, encouragement, and generous financial contributions from kind-hearted individuals across Nigeria and beyond.
He expressed deep appreciation to everyone who stood by the late actress, noting that the show of compassion brought comfort to her and her family during an extremely difficult time.
Teemony also made an important appeal to the public, urging people to stop sending money to the previously shared account, as financial support is no longer required following her passing.
“With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved actress, Aunty Ajara,” he wrote. “She passed on overnight after a long and courageous battle with illness. We are deeply grateful to everyone who supported her with prayers, contributions, encouragement, and compassion.”
The Yoruba movie industry continues to mourn yet another painful loss, as tributes pour in for the late actress, remembered for her strength, warmth, and contributions to Nollywood.
May her soul rest in peace.
