According to sources close to her family, Alakija’s health issues began after a near-fatal air mishap. The incident caused a significant spike in her blood pressure, which affected her vision.
Despite efforts to address the issue, Alakija’s vision continued to deteriorate, ultimately leading to complete blindness.
The 73-year-old businesswoman and philanthropist is the founder and Executive Vice Chairman of Famfa Oil. She has been recognized for her business acumen and philanthropic efforts, including being ranked as one of the richest people in Africa by Forbes.
