A Nigerian lady, Ogechi Okechukwu, has been arrested by security operatives for defrauding people online by seeking financial assistance under false pretenses. Ogechi, a native of Bayelsa, had reached out to popular Facebook influencer, Uwaoma Susan Joseph, claiming to need financial help for a medical condition.
Unbeknownst to Uwaoma, Ogechi’s claims were false, and she had been using the money raised for her personal gain. However, her scam was exposed when security agents found incriminating messages between her and a doctor on her phone.
Ogechi has since been detained pending investigation into the fraudulent act. The incident has sparked a heated debate on social media, with many calling for stricter measures to prevent online scams.
