Nigerian singer Portable was stopped from performing at Taye Currency’s concert in Ibadan due to backlash over his previous comments about the city.
A viral video showed an Ibadan resident warning Portable to stay away from the city and criticizing his earlier remarks about providing his former lover with an apartment featuring a POP ceiling, which he mocked as rare in Ibadan.
The resident also threatened Taye Currency, urging him to remove Portable from the show to avoid trouble. Portable was eventually barred from performing at the concert due to safety concerns.
The organizers, JaRule Entertainment, explained that despite adequate security, they received reports of individuals inquiring about Portable’s presence in Ibadan, leading them to keep him off the stage to avoid disruptions.
