Nigerian singer Blackface expresses emotions over Kenny Ogungbe’s revelation about “African Queen”

Nigerian artist Blackface has shared his feelings following a recent disclosure by Kenny Ogungbe, CEO of Kennis Music, regarding the controversial hit song, African Queen.

For years, Blackface has accused his former group member from Plantashun Boiz, 2Baba, of not giving him proper credit and royalties for the 2004 classic. Ogungbe’s remarks on the Honest Bunch podcast shed light on the group’s history, revealing that while Blackface was the first among them to release music, African Queen was registered solely under 2Baba’s name, excluding Blackface from recognition.

Reacting to the revelation, Blackface took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his frustration and disappointment over what he described as years of sabotage and injustice within the music industry.

Blackface’s grievances

The artist accused industry players of intentionally undermining his career, isolating him, and tarnishing his reputation. He alleged that he faced numerous challenges, including being denied performance opportunities and witnessing other artists replicate his lines and melodies to create hits.

Blackface also recounted incidents of being ostracized at events, stating that negative narratives about him prevented people from associating with him professionally. He claimed these actions were part of a broader “sabotage agenda” aimed at sidelining him in the industry.

Plans to rebuild Plantashun Boiz

Despite his struggles, Blackface expressed hope for the future, hinting at plans to revive the Plantashun Boiz legacy by recruiting new members and producing fresh music for fans. He emphasized his commitment to truth and justice, calling out what he perceived as dishonesty in the music business.

A call for accountability

In his heartfelt message, Blackface questioned why it took so long for the truth about African Queen to emerge and lamented the impact of being excluded from the song’s success. He urged industry stakeholders to prioritize honesty, stating, “Truth is easy; lies and deceit are hard to maintain.”

The artist remains determined to reclaim his place in the music scene, reaffirming his belief that justice will ultimately prevail.

Guys I am really emotional right now…
What in the world took you guys too long to come out and clear the air that you guys falsely registered my song "African Queen"without my consent
and excluded my name so you guys can collect all the writers and publishing royalties?
