Oriyomi Hamzat, the proprietor of Agidigbo FM, is currently undergoing medical treatment following the tragic events at Olori Naomi’s charity program in Ibadan, where a stampede claimed the lives of 35 children.
Hamzat, who attended the event held at Islamic High School, Bashorun, was profoundly shaken by the devastating loss of life and injuries sustained by several children. He was immediately taken to a nearby hospital after the incident.
The event, co-hosted by Queen Naomi Silekunola, former wife of the Ooni of Ife, and extensively publicized by Agidigbo FM, turned chaotic when overcrowding led to the fatal stampede.
An insider from Agidigbo FM disclosed that Hamzat has been struggling to cope with the emotional and physical impact of the tragedy.
“He was present at the event. When the stampede occurred and children began collapsing, he was deeply distressed. He also collapsed and had to be taken to the hospital,” the source told Sahara Reporters.
Meanwhile, the Oyo State government and law enforcement agencies have promised to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident, which has left the community in mourning.
