Nigerian online police Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), recently announced his plans to respond if the Tinubu administration does not release the minors detained in August 2024.
Reports indicate that over 20 young individuals were arrested for displaying Russian flags during a hunger protest. Authorities have imposed a bail condition requiring each detainee to pay N10 million, with two sureties – one being a civil servant with a valid ID.
VeryDarkMan, who encountered these detainees while he himself was briefly imprisoned before securing a N2 million bail, has stated that if the minors remain detained by Tuesday, he will launch a GoFundMe campaign.
With a platform of 1.8 million followers, he expressed confidence that even small contributions could collectively help meet the bail requirements and secure the release of the children.In his post, he noted, “If by Tuesday the Tinubu government doesn’t release those minors, I’ll take action.
Perhaps my own detention was meant to reveal the harsh treatment these minors face. Till Tuesday.”
