Renowned musician KCee recently responded to Flavour’s comments implying that KCee copied his style after releasing a new song, which fans claimed resembled Flavour’s hit “Doings.”

The controversy began when KCee dropped his latest track, drawing comparisons to Flavour’s music from some listeners. Shortly after, Flavour shared a tweet hinting at someone imitating his style, writing, “Copy copy akaria.”

Though Flavour didn’t mention anyone by name, KCee took to social media to issue a response, expressing frustration at the implied accusation. He emphasized that no single artist owns Igbo music, arguing that the genre belongs to the culture as a whole.

In a series of posts, KCee challenged Flavour, suggesting they are on different levels in the industry. He urged him to “pick [his] battles carefully,” asserting that his own work celebrates their shared heritage and that he would continue to do so with pride.

KCee wrote:

“BRO!!!!!! We are not on the same level.

Pick your battles carefully.

Stop trying to gatekeep Igbo culture. You’re not a custodian.

I’ve been in this game before you, and it belongs to all of us. My music celebrates our heritage, and I won’t apologize.

People recognize authenticity. I’ll continue celebrating our culture unapologetically.

I don’t go head-to-head, but I won’t tolerate any disrespect.”
